Just found the site after scouring the internet periodically. Saw BOB at the Duchess of York, Leeds. Think it was around 1991 and unfortunatley that was my only BOB gig - superb. Shame, the Duchess it is now a BOSS shop. Bought a couple of records which I still have. May have recently secured the CD -leave the straight life behind. Was this the only compact disc release by bob ?
Yup, that was it on the CD front, strictly vinyl otherwise. Glad you caught us at the Duchess - always brought out the best in us for some reason. Usually got quite hot. Shame it's not there anymore - I despair for bands these days: where can they play? In a crunchy time like this there should be scenes & clubs & groups springing up all over. Are they? I can't see 'em... On second thoughts, don't tell me if they are there - I'm old.
It is a shame but some successful bands have made it out of Leeds in recent years such as the Kaiser Chiefs and Pigeon Detectives. I cant tell you about decent venue's anyway cos I dont know. 2 kids and a high maintenance wife have seen to that. You are right though, the Duchess was a fantastic venue - not pretentious, a place to see bands and hear live music - nothing more, nothing less. Somewhere in the attic I believe I have a weekly flyer from the time you played. Must hunt it down and see who else was playing around that time. Missed out on that CD on ebay. For info I think it went for about 30 us dollars - not bad. Will be keeping my eye out for the next one on offer. Sad but no longer have a turntable and like to have the material object in my hand and in my CD collection.
My copy of the Kats Karavan CD box set arrived today (Saturday) even though it's not officially out until Monday!!
Got to say it's a very interesting compilation.
The remastering of Convenience is superb, the guitar parts really do stand out - from the acoustic rhythm guitar to the little twiddly bits towards the end. Fantastic - for me THE stand-out track in the collection.
